Beertender: How does it work
The Beertender is a home beer tap invented by Heineken in cooperation with electronic company Krups. At the start Heineken developed the beertender together with Philips, but they got off before the introduction of the home beer tap. Krups took over the job. Although it is a Dutch invention, half a year before the beertender was introduced on the Dutch market it was sold in Switzerland and Italy by the italian company Saeco, it was called the 'Saeco Beertender'. The beertender is a home beer tapping device for people who want to drink a draft beer at home. It is a small tap which uses small 4 liter kegs. At the start only heineken kegs where available for the beertender, but more different beer brewers are making the small kegs, now Brand, Amstel, Wieckse Witte, Murphy's and Affiligem are available. All the companies are linked to Heineken however since they own the patent. The beertender works with air pressure (not with CO2). After putting the keg in the tender you can use it for four more weeks.
Competition for the Beertender
After Philips abandoned the cooperation with Heineken they started working on their own home beer tapping system. They worked together with InBev to created the "PerfectDraft". In the Netherlands there is also the Wunderbar Cooler and the Tap&Cooler created by the dutch company "Princess". The Wunderbar Cooler can also be used with larger kegs: 4, 5 and 6 liter kegs. The Tap&Cooler can be used to tap beer, but also for cooling other beverages.
Beertender accesoires
It is best to put a cold keg in the beertender (the beertender can cool the keg itself, but this will take a long time). A special BeerCooler is available to cool your kegs! You can put two kegs in the BeerCooler and after 11 hours the kegs are the perfect termperature.

So did mine. This piece of crap just flashes and it no longer cools. I will never by Krups again.
Yep, flashing light and hum of compressor. Had a power failure due to storms and noticed it was acting funny. Got a new keg, guess I am screwed.
